Some of you would have seen the posters already, but Computer Club is organizing an ASUS Campus Elites (ACE) Workshop this Thursday 280110 in LT 79 from 1645h-1900h. It will be on assembling a computer. There will not be a meeting session as such. If you have not done so, kindly register for the event by replying to this email with your particulars. Also do invite your friends down for the event. CCA points and refreshments will be provided.

Also, I have officially stepped-down from my post as President during the AGM last week. For those of you who were not present during the AGM, the new committee will be as follows :

During the AGM, I will be stepping down as President to hand over to the next committee for 2010. The new committee will be taking over the club operations from then on.

It’s been a while since we had a meeting session due to exams and all. We could not have any meeting sessions during the holidays as both me and Boon Hock was not free.

Anyway, for this week, meeting sessions will resume as per normal and we will be talking about modem settings, WEP passwords and port forwarding. As usual, it will be in 50-01-01 from 1800h-2000h.

For this week’s meeting session, we will be expanding our file sharing talk to online file sharing. It will be in 50-01-01 from 1800h-2000h as usual.

For this week’s meeting we will be talking about virtualization of OS. Basically it is about running an OS inside another OS. Come down to 50-01-01 from 1800h-2000h to learn more about it. Kindly also download a copy of VirtualBox from [http://www.virtualbox.org]. This will help during the meeting session to understand more about virtualization.

For this week’s meeting session, we will be going through disc image mounting and uses. Some of you might already know about disc images but do come down to ask questions if you can. It will be in 50-01-01 as usual from 1800h-2000h.

Also, ASUS is having an event in NP this Saturday 141109. We will be requiring helpers from 0900h-1600h. Shifts can be arranged so let us know if you would like to help and what time you could be around. This will be based on a first-come-first-served basis so sign up early if you want to help. CCA points are not confirmed as of this point but will most likely be 2 S-points.

Hi everyone,

Just to inform you all, there is a change in topic for this week’s meeting session as Boon Hock will not be free to give the talk. I will be explaining a small mod on computer fans to serve as a personal fan instead. The location will also be changed to our clubhouse at Blk 71 (in between Alumni clubhouse and Blk 72). Timing remains the same. If you are unsure where, give me a call from outside OurSpace.

As it will be quite a short session (maybe only half an hour), it is entirely optional and you can choose if you want to come or not. Attendance will not be taken. Come along if you feel the weather is too hot and want a fan in front of your computer like mine.
